I often compare myself to a turtle. Because I carry a big green bag on my back, in which is all my house, and I walk very slowly.

My big bag is a Deuter, German quality, 50+10L, which give me extra space for food. Inside there's all I need to survive here, in Ireland.

There's a tent obviously, Quechua Quick Hiker (2,7kg), for 2 people (actually me and my big bag), green, quite flashy, but I really feel like inside a cocoon.

My sleeping bag (1,15kg) warm until 5°C, that's why I have also a fleece sleeping bag (Thermolite, 450gr) I put inside, and let me get 17°C more. When it's very cold outside, I add a bottle of boiling water inside to get warmer. I also have a mattress, Thermarest, made in Ireland, very comfortable that gives a good isolation from the cold and wet ground.

I also have a gas stove for cooking, and that's not so easy to find one. I got mine in Dublin, ran out of gas in Donegal, and had to buy another stove in Letterkenny from a different brand (Campingaz), and then found the gas bottle compatible to it, which was only sold by pack of 4. I remember when I bought the first in Dublin, the seller told me Campingaz was not the easiest to find, and I should better buy gas there than trying to find it somewhere else in Ireland. Anyway, I also have a pan, a cup, a fork, a spoon and my Swiss knife (always, like McGyver), and lighters.

Regarding my clothes, that's easy, a day outfit, and a night outfit. I mean, for night I have a warm under-sweater (Uniqlo) and a polartech legging. For the day, another warm under-sweater (Millet), a fleece, and a windbreaker, with hiking trousers, and of course a rain cape. And some underwears. Three pairs of socks, one in merinos wool that I wear everyday with my hiking boots. I also have a cap, a scarf, and gloves.

As for my toilet bag, soap, toothbrush with toothpaste, a little tube of shampoo, a little mirror, deodorant (at the beginning no, but it's really better with), and a comb. Lipsticks, sun cream and Biafine. Baby wipes and a pharmacy bag with common medicine. Two towels, one for shower, one for the dishes, etc.

Three gourds (one for drinking, one for cooking, one for heating my sleeping bag). Three lockers (two for the tent, one for hostel), a tennis ball (I use it to massage my feet), a head lamp, a yellow jacket to be seen, extra little plastic bags, bin bags and a candle to get warm in case of hyperthermia with my survival blanket.

As for the technology, my computer and its charger, my camera, its charger and cable, my Gopro with cable, an adapter, my phone with charger and my Kindle (contains my guide book).

Two walking sticks, my fanny bag with my travel notebook, wallet, sunglasses, etc.

And of course, food : noddles, tea bags, dried soup, and biscuits.

That's all, all I have and it's in my bag. Have you ever heard about the movie "Up in the air" with George Clooney, talking about the bag theory ? Imagine all that you have must fit into a bag. How big would be your bag ? I try to make mine as light as possible to survive.
