Rest days - Friday 18th & Saturday 19th of May, 2018: Sligo 0 km / Total 1210 km, 18°C, cloudy
Sligo is not a big city, but it's a nice town, along the shortest river of Ireland, between Lough Gill and the ocean. The main purpose of my stop in Sligo, apart from getting some rest, was to do some shopping. I needed new shoes (once again), because the ones I bought in Newry 1000 km ago at Trespass, got a big hole outside on the right foot (so water gets in), various holes inside both, and were very used under. After some research and analyzing many shoes, I chose the "Storm waterproof boot" with iso-grip, at Warehouse Mountains. They got me a reduced price giving me the fidelity card and advised me there's another shop in Galway if I'm in trouble. I just hope these ones will work until the end of my trip.
I also bought a t-shirt and a sunhat because the weather was warmer than expected. And I replaced my lost bottle.
This stop was also in order to find a washing machine for my clothes. The hostel didn't have one, so I had to find a laundry shop, where I went wearing only my "night clothes", and giving them all the rest of my clothes. I visited the ancient abbey of Sligo, whose ruins remain quite impressive, especially the cloister.
The second day off was only for rest, as it was the Royal Wedding Day! Sorry I had to watch it ;)
