Day 92 - Tuesday, July 3rd 2018: Bunnahown to Ardmore 22 km / Total 1904 km, 25°C, sunny
It was a pleasant morning. As my tent wasn't really well hidden, I packed it quickly, and then just sat on a rock and enjoyed my breakfast, with fresh air and mountain view.
Just before noon, it was already hot and I had to take off my jacket, put sun cream, sunglasses and my hat.
I stopped in Glynsk for lunch and enjoyed the shadow of the room. The afternoon was hot, but I had no choice, I had to go on. Instead of taking the shortest way to Carna, I took the coastal road, following the Wild Atlantic Way, just hopping that way would be cooler. On the road, I could see some smoke in the distance. There has been a fire. It could be anything, like a cigarette, as the grass is so dry.
When I arrived in Carna, I ran into the pub to drink something fresh. The barman saw me on the road earlier, so he filled my bottles, and fed me with some biscuits. He told he went to Algarve at the end of May. When he left Ireland in the morning he had frost, then the next day when he went home, it was 24°C here. While in Portugal it was grey and rainy. As he told me, there was Irish weather in Portugal when it was Portuguese weather in Ireland. I also told him the leaves of the trees seem burnt. He explained to me it's because of Hector storm. They had 100km/h winds which burnt the leaves and now they have dry weather. The Irish Times says that the grass is only 1/3 of its normal size.
In the evening, I found a place for my tent on the seaside. Well on the few spaces left between the sea and the wall of the field. No wind and no air, not even shadow. I took my dinner outside, hidden from the sun by my tent. But it was quiet and quite well hidden. Despite the farmer in his field who saw me. Hard to hide in Ireland, you can't even pee without someone knowing it!
