Day 88 - Friday, June 29th 2018: Letterfrack to Leagun 18 km / Total 1817 km, 28°C, sunny
We woke up early in the morning, as Mum had to take the bus early to get back to Galway and catch another bus to Dublin airport.
She didn't know but when the bus left, I had some tears in my eyes.
And then I was back on the road and walking again, back to my daily routine. And finally, it was a good thing that I started early, as the weather was still very hot due to the heatwave. I took the big road until Moyard. There wasn't a lot of traffic but with the hedge, I had no visibility. At least I got some shadow on that melting road. After Moyard, I took a little road along some lough and finally reached Cleggan (when I read such name, Cleggan, Tully, I still wonder if George R. R. Martin didn't find his inspiration for Game of Thrones from Ireland). There was a beach before the Pier where the water was so clear and so blue!
After my lunch break, I walked the last and hottest 6 km of the day. In the distance, I could see O'mey Island and its beautiful beach on which you can drive when the tide is out.
When I arrived at the campsite, I discovered it was full. It's the first time it happens. I just hope it was because of the incredible weather and not because of the holidays, because it won't help me for the next 2 months of my trip. But they didn't refuse me, and I could put my tent. Then I lied down until the evening and the temperature to get cool enough for dinner and shower.
And of course, a full campsite means children screaming everywhere and drunk people getting back laughing at 5 am. I really hope it won't be like that the whole summer.
