Day 75 - Sunday, June 10th 2018: Keel to Keem Beach to Keel 15 km / Total 1604 km, 17°C, cloudy

Despite the cracky bed, it was good to get some rest in Keel, and just to walk along the beach with the sun, watching the beautiful blue and green waves and surfers, to play (or disturb) with the sheep (sweet revenge for waking me up at 5 am), take time to upload pictures, write my diary, talk with people. Mike told me the Mayo Gaelic football team didn't win the national competition since 1951 because they were cursed. In fact, that year, as they were celebrating their triumph in the street, they refused to let pass a funeral procession, and a woman told them they'll never win again until they all die. There's only 2 of them still alive...

I walked to Keem Beach, as it's on the Wild Atlantic Way, but as it was a dead-end, I left my backpack at the hostel where I returned for the night. It was a little road along the cliffs, so quite steep. Sheep on the road (many), green ferns on the cliffs. And suddenly, nestled between those green cliffs, the hidden beach of Keem, white sand, the water reflecting the cliffs. Many tourists were there with children swimming. I enjoyed a delicious waffle on the beach, before getting back to Keel. As I got slimmer, a waffle isn't really too bad.

It was not a hard walk, but I wasn't carrying my backpack so it helped, and the weather was getting cooler.

I really liked this side of Achill Island, it's a good spot for holidays.
