Day 70 - Monday, June 4th 2018: Belmullet to Gweesalia 20 km / Total 1505 km, 18°C, sunny
Belmullet still in the fog. Well, it can also describe my state of mind in the morning, especially when I know some days of walk surrounded by bog are still waiting for me. After my big breakfast, I left the peninsula, and the sun started to shine again. It quickly became warm, and my backpack was heavy with water and food for several days. I found a bench at a crossroad where I lied down for a few hours, eating the soda bread left from my breakfast, sleeping a little bit, and reading. All of that with a large empty horizon in front of me.
When it started to get cooler, I started to walk again. My mind wandered away, thinking about my first year as a student when I left home for the first time. Interesting where your mind takes you in your past when you let it go free. Then I thought about the differences between nomadic life and sedentary life. The first one is an outdoor life, while the second one is an indoor life.
At the end of the day, it smelled of flowers and pine trees, I like it. Just after Gweesalia, I found a little path surrounded by the bog (always and ever) to put my tent, but it was way too hot inside, and I waited for hours lying down there until I could do something.
