Day 57 - Tuesday, May 22nd 2018: Strandhill to Glen wood 18 km / Total 1228 km, 17°C, sunny
Very pleasant walk on a little road until Ballysadare. Nice view on its Bay. A lot of flowers now blooming in the landscape.
But I was quite shocked when I saw an old man, stopping in front of the house, throwing his paper out of his car window, then turned back and parked in the house next door. What's that? Did he have no bin at home???
After a walk along a big busy road, I started climbing a little road in the wood where I planned to spend the night. Well, on Google Earth there was a wood. In reality, the trees are getting cut, hundred and hundred of them. And the place is forbidden to access, despite it's an official pedestrian trail. No choice, I followed it, despite CCTV camera warning (I'm starting to believe they try to warn people with CCTV and most of the time, there's not). Hard to find a place for my tent, not enough space between the trees. I finally found a spot with grass, and decided to put my tent there. The ground was not flat at all, quite rocky, with a lot of insects and spider webs. I got into my tent and decided not to get out of it anymore, so spiders and mosquitos wouldn't get in. So no cooked dinner. And I slept with a rock under my head. Well it can't be perfect every night!
