Day 54 - Wednesday, May 16th 2018: Bundoran to Streedagh Point 23 km / Total 1179 km, 18°C, sunny
Lovely sunny spring day. I found some lilac flowers, the smell reminded my grandmother's garden. Most of the time it smells sea or freshly cut grass. And from time to time, cow's poo, which reminds me of my childhood holidays in the French Alps.
I crossed the little coast part of Leitrim County by the little road. In Cliffony, the restaurant was closed, so I bought a sandwich at the local shop and sat at a table outside the pub (also closed) at a crossroad. There I saw the priest coming to the shop and buying all the newspapers. Then an old lady looking like a little girl buying ice cream. And finally, horses waiting for their turn to cross the street. Interesting!
In the afternoon, a man on a bicycle going in the other direction gave me a hi. I think we understood each other. Without a word. That's human contact.
I've been proposed lift 3 times, and twice by the same man, on the same day that's a premiere.
Spring was definitely here, as I saw a swallow. I found a place for my tent on the sand dunes, hidden from the road, houses and beach. A lovely place with great sunset and only the sound of the waves on the galleys. I put my feet in the water, cold but good after my walk. I felt very happy to walk in the high grass on the sand dunes. It made me feel free and reminded me summertime of my childhood. Happiness is made of little things ...
