Day 46 - Tuesday, May 8th 2018: Dungloe to Narin/Portnoo Strand 25 km / Total 1013 km, 17°C, sunny
That's it. I'm 30. I waited for it in the morning, awaken in my bed. At least I was in bed. While most people are married with children, own a house and work, I just feel happy to be single without a child, unemployed and owning only the content of my backpack. In one word, I'm just free, but definitely happy to do what I was dreaming about.
Quick check-up physically: no white hair, flat belly, and good health, maybe physicaly better than when I was 20. This trip is making me younger.
After a huge Irish breakfast, I took the road again, because life goes on, so do I. I took the Diamond road to cross Maghery Peninsula. Big horizon, a lonely road in the bog, no one. Just me, nature and the sun.
Then I got back on the main road but following a cycle path. It's there, just before Lettermacaward that I walked my 1000th kilometre. Yes of course, I managed to do it on that specific day. So, I wrote it on the road, with just a little rock, and filmed myself crossing it. It is done.
Then I passed the bridge over the Gweebarra River and walked along its beautiful bay. For once a sheep let me touch him and put my hand in his deep and warm wool.
It's been a long walk until I reached Portnoo where there was a campsite. The owner was quite surprised to see me, he gave me 2 tokens for free for me to shower and said we'll see in the morning for the payment of 5€ (I had to look for him because I didn't want to leave without paying). Unfortunately, the two restaurants, the coffee shop and even the pub were closed after the Bank holiday weekend. So nowhere to have a real dinner and nowhere to drink something in order to celebrate my birthday!
