Day 43 - Saturday, May 5th 2018: Dunfanaghy to Bloody Foreland 23 km / Total 944 km, 20°C, sunny

Hot and sunny day. I walked along a big road, so I had to focus on traffic.

In Falcarragh I decided to make a stop at the village's pub. It was Communion Day. So everybody in the pub was here to celebrate some child communion, and of course, everybody was well dressed.

I was the only tourist, so the only one wearing outdoor clothes. I sat in a corner, which unfortunately was closed to the fireplace, and it was hot as hell.

I felt almost sorry to request food from the menu, as a special menu was made for the communion. At the end of my lunch, the manager came and asked me what I was doing here. After my explanation, he asked to take a picture with me, and said my lunch was for free! He even gave me his card, just in case I'd be looking for a job! I love Irish people!

I followed my road to the West, passed along the flat table Muckish Mountain and the pyramidal Mt Errigal. I entered a Gaeltacht area, so all road signs were written in Irish Gaelic, fortunately so it is on my map.

After Meenacladdy, I had to cross an empty bog area. Here people still use turf, and I can recognize the smell of turf smoke when I pass in front of a house. Unfortunately, it's not possible to put my tent in the bog, that's too wet. I finally found a place, at the end of the road, along the pedestrian Path in Bloody Foreland. It's called "Bloody" because at sunset the Cliff stones turn red. Well, there were only clouds in the evening so no Bloody sunset. After a hot sunny day, the weather turned misty, the sky and the sea turned grey, and strong wind was rising. I only heard the sheep owner who came to feed them in the nearest field, but he didn't come to ask me anything, so it was alright.

I fell asleep at this edge of the world, hearing strong waves crashing into the cliffs.
