Day 41 - Wednesday, May 2nd 2018: Fanad to Downings 16 km / Total 894 km, 10°C, sunny
Heavy rain during the night, it was good to be in a B&B. After a big full Irish Breakfast, the sun came back as I was back on the road. I took the little road across Fanad Peninsula. Pretty landscapes, hills, sheep, loughs, pine trees. A quick rain shower but I got dried very fast. I think I shouldn't have been singing on the road, I'm a bad singer, that's why it rained. Just before Harry Blaney's Bridge which joins Rossguill Peninsula, I had a wonderful view above Mulroy Bay, blue sea with sand, absolutely lovely.
The wind was so strong while I crossed the bridge. That's funny because just before getting on it, there was a sign warning pedestrians, motorhomes and motorbikes to not cross the bridge if the windsock was horizontal. The problem is there was no longer a windsock on any side, they might have flown away because of too strong winds!
After a stop in Carrickart, I arrived in Downings where there was a campsite. The guy didn't really welcome me, just took my name and money, and quickly showed me where to put my tent. I think I was disturbing him, and he definitely didn't dispose to talk.
Doesn't matter, I just put on my tent, and went on the beach for a walk, enjoying the Bay (looks like a Caribbean Bay), and the sun, before getting dinner at the hotel, the only place open in town! That's what I'm afraid of: out of tourist season many places are closed, and when it'll be summer, everything will be full!
Now I think I should have gone to the hostel in Rossguill Head and walked around the Peninsula, but I didn't know there would be a campsite in Creeslough the day after.
But at least, for the first time, I could sleep without my fleece!
