Day 31 - Saturday, April 21st 2018: Greencastle to Culdaff 22 km / Total 676 km, 21°C, sunny
I had to climb a hill to finally say goodbye to Lough Foyle. The day was sunny and let's say hot: 22°C ! I had to put suncream on my face, to avoid getting red. At the top of the hill, I made a little stop, enjoying the fact that apart from the wind, there was absolutely no noise at all. No wave, no cars, no sheep, no one. And down the hill, the sea, perfectly blue. The little road was getting up and getting down most of the time, and with the sun shining, and my clothes made to protect me against cold weather, it was quite hard for some moments. Too hot when getting up, too painful for my feet when getting down. But apart from this, it was really a great beautiful day. The view was great, with the blue sea on my right-hand side, and the shadow of Inishowen mountains on my left-hand side. I made a stop at Tremone Bay, where there was a beautiful beach, like many others on this coast, settled between rocks. As kids were playing there, wearing just shorts and t-shirts, I decided to put my painful feet in the water. Oh gosh, it was frozen, and it hurt me. I took a little nap, in the sun, it was really great and really sound like a weekend.
At the end of the day, I reached Culdaff and had to find a place for my tent. But I was really tired, maybe because of the sun, I'm not so used to it anymore, and I really needed to drink something fresh, and then I saw McGory's hotel and bar/restaurant. First I thought I was just going to take a beer, and then to have a real dinner (cause I only ate an apple for lunch and some biscuits), and finally, as it was going to rain at night, and the weather forecast predicted huge rain for the day after, and I decided to sleep there. And it was Saturday evening, and there must be a musician at 9:30 pm. I took a room, get to the bar, ask for half a Guinness (didn't drink it since Dublin, incredible, I didn't even take time to celebrate I was back in Ireland) and then have dinner at the restaurant. Unfortunately, I was too tired to wait until 9:30 pm, which is sad, because one of the reasons I chose Ireland is the music, and I haven't the occasion to listen to it. At 9 pm I was in bed, with Poirot on TV and getting asleep!
