Day 3 - Tuesday, March 20th 2018: Donabate to Rush 20 km / Total 59 km, 10°C, sunny
My hard walk the day before gave me painful shoulders and blisters on the feet. And not to tell about my right knee which is painful too. The only funny fact is that, because of the sun, my nose is red, already! But I think those pain are normal at the beginning, my body has to get used to the walk and the bag.
However, the day started well, walking along the seaside. But after lunch, I had to walk inland, to get around Rogerstown estuary. There was no roadside to walk, and it was dangerous to avoid cars and trucks. And those sides are often quite dirty, with cans, bottles, etc. So the road was boring, dogs were running after me (because the garden door remains open most of the time), and my shoulders were really painful. In the morning I sent an e-mail to the caravan and camping site in Rush in order to know if they had availabilities. At 4 pm, still no answer. So I checked their website again: opening on April 1st! Ok, so as I just arrived in Rush, I decided to find a place in the dunes for my tent. Walking in the sand was really good for my feet. I saw a dead seal, very sad, its body was untouched, but its head was broken. But none of the people walking their dog noticed. I had to wait for sunset to pitch my tent. While the day has been warm enough (I wear my sunglasses all day), the evening started to be cold. Sunset is completed at 7 pm. At 8:30 I was ready to sleep, everything was quiet, apart from the planes and trains in the long-distance, and the waves of course.
I think the night was very cold, cause I woke up at 2:15 pm, the temperature was -1°C inside my tent, with some frost on the walls of my tent. So I make my bottle of water boiled again and put it in my sleeping bag. In the morning, everything outside was frozen, including my tent.
