Day 28 - Tuesday, April 17th 2018: Limavady to Londonderry 29 km / Total 618 km, 16°C, sunny
As the day before, it started well, with a big sun. It was a big road, but with a cycle path, so it was safe. Enough to get my nails. Yes, when I'm not using my walk sticks, especially on big roads, my hands are quite useless. It was a manner to keep them busy, and the time and distance went faster like that, and until I realised it, I was already in Greysteel, where I made a stop for lunch, at a rugby field. I found a sandwich, with an apple in a gas station while leaving Limavady in the morning. it was good to eat some fruit, cause I really miss it.
Then, as I took off my jacket to walk again, the weather suddenly got darker, and I had to remove my sunglasses. And then, the rain, which had almost disappeared for a week. Quick, quick my rain cover. Only 15min, but heavy rain and my trousers got wet. Grrr, the weather forecast absolutely didn't say rain. Must be very hard to be a meteorologist in this country. And 5min later, the big sun was shining again. When they say "changing weather" that's true! One hour later, everything was dry.
The straight and shorter way is not always the easy one. To avoid the big double carriages road, I took little roads, but it meant getting up and getting down. And when I finally reached Londonderry, I had to find a bridge to cross Foyle river, as my hostel was on the western part of the city. Only 3 bridges on my map. Let's take the most modern one: Peace Bridge (which is not straight). Funny when it's windy!
I arrived at my hostel, exhausted! Fortunately, the guy who opened me was very fast, door code, payment, key, room number, and that's all. Taking off my shoes, taking a shower, and then a foot massage! 29 km, my feet didn't like it at all!
