Day 167 - Monday, September 24th 2018: Wicklow Head to Greystones 25 km / Total 3450 km, 15°C, sunny

I spent my last night in the tent, with boiled water in a bottle that I put inside my sleeping bag and my rain cover above to stay warm. The night was cold but I slept well. Although it was hard to get out of my sleeping bag in the morning with only 6°C inside the tent. But what a wonderful sunrise above the sea I got on that morning. It is really worth spending the night intent! I packed it for the last time, and I was very happy just because it was dry. I left my gas stove at the campsite, as I couldn't bring it back home by plane.

In Wicklow town, I found a place to get the meal of the day. As it was quite early, I had to order an Irish Breakfast (I hoped it would be my last one). It took me another hour to cross the city and to be back in the countryside, where I was surrounded by very big and classy houses.

On the road, a man stopped to ask if I needed a lift, and as I said I was walking to Greystones, he told me I should better walk along the beach. The problem was the railway also goes along the beach, and I wasn't sure I could cross it to get back to the inland and if I would find bridges to cross the rivers. So I stayed on the road because I didn't want to get stuck on the beach.

Even if I was following the road, it was hard to find a warm place to sit and rest, but I finally went into a pub and asked for a hot cup of tea, just one hour before my arrival, as my feet were too painful to go on.

I really liked Greystones. I'm not sure it's a place I could afford to live in, but they were building lovely new houses, with solar panels, and they seemed to have good sports equipment, like a swimming pool (in fact I didn't see many of them during my trip).

For the night, I was welcomed in a lovely Airbnb by Zoe, who offered me a tea with a scone while I was chatting with her other guest, James who was from Tyrone. We talked about many places I've been along the coast.

After a long hot shower, I went straight to bed, because I was definitely exhausted. It was time for this trip to be over because my body was using its last batteries.
