Day 145 - Thursday, August 30th 2018: Glandore to Clonakilty 27 km / Total 2998 km, 16°C, cloudy I really had a good sleep at that campsite, so I decided I was physically well enough to walk two extra kilometres to visit Drombeg stone circle. It's located in a nice place, with a view of the sea. The circle stone has a specific orientation for the winter solstice. But the most interesting fact is the remains of some huts nearby. In one of them, water was kept from a little river, and boiled with hot stones from the fireplace. This hot water was used to cook meat. I found that system very ingenious for that time.  Then I went to Roscarbery where I made a stop for lunch. It was too early for pubs and restaurants to open, so I went to the shop, tried not to buy it all, and enjoyed my Irish breakfast sandwich sitting on a bench with a table (and even a bin) in the middle of the main square of the village. There was no toilet, but it was as good as if I was in a restaurant and cheaper. The afternoon was just going up and down the hills, surrounded by hedges with cows in their fields. I felt like walking in the same landscape for three days. Just before Clonakilty, I decided to avoid the main road and took an ancient path, which seems to be used only by horses now, regarding the amount of poo! I was quite surprised by the busy traffic in town, diversion, road works and rush hour ... Oh yes, I forgot to mention that now, as summer holidays are over, busy traffic hours are around 9 am in the morning (children at school and people at work), 3:30 pm (end of school) and between 5 and 6 pm (people back from work). Unfortunately, I was walking a diverted road out of Clonakilty between 5 and 6 pm, with many people on the road.  A man stopped his car, asking me if I was going to a campsite. As I said yes, he asked if I needed a lift because he was the campsite owner. I told him I was on a walking trip. I realized later that he was the owner of another campsite, not the one I wanted to go to, where I arrived exhausted but I've been very well welcomed by the owner. The reason I chose that campsite? Just a free hot shower!
