Day 141 - Sunday, August 26th 2018: Barleycove to Schull 21 km / Total 2904 km, 15°C, cloudy
Guess what? I had to pack my tent wet once again!
The fact is just that now nothing gets dry anymore, not even my towel!
I left camping which turned to get empty and walked along Crookhaven Harbour, with fog. It gave it a peaceful atmosphere, and step by step, as the sun tried to shine I could see the colourful houses of the village on the other side of the bay.
I made a stop in Goleen for lunch. I think eating, food and hunger had become quite an obsession: I took a quiche, a sandwich and a muffin just to be sure I wouldn't be starving later on the road.
Then I was ready to walk the 15 km up to Schull.
It was a twisted road, with not a lot of visibility, so I had to be very careful, focus on the traffic (not so heavy but important, as it was the main road to Mizen Head) and listen if there was a car coming at each bend.
In the afternoon, I met Jean again. She went to Ballydehob and then decided to drive along the road to look after me. She wanted to take a coffee with me, unfortunately, in fact, there was nowhere nearby to take a coffee, I already had my lunch break earlier in the previous village, and I still had a lot of walks to do (12 km at least) so it wasn't really possible.
I ended up in Schull with painful feet, especially the left one. It's always the left one! I went directly to the campsite. In fact, it was not official camping, it's just someone who decided to turn his garden into a campsite, with toilets and shower in the shed. It could have been a good idea if the ground was flat, which obviously was not the case. Flat ground is just the basic condition if you want people to put their tent.
I went downtown, looking for food at the shop, and finally decided to have an enormous pizza in a restaurant. Yes, I'm definitely obsessed with food now!
