Day 139 - Friday, August 24th 2018: Kealties to Dunkelly 23 km / Total 2861 km, 15°C, cloudy

Jean's home was absolutely quiet, perfect for a good sleep, after a hot shower. She was waiting for me in the morning, trying to find my website on Internet, and had already told her friend that she met a woman walking around Ireland ... Just in front of her house, thanks to her dog. For sure we can thank William for that. We went out for his morning walk, and she made me cross a field with cute baby cows, to join back the Wild Atlantic Way. She took me in her arms to say goodbye. I was really happy to meet her, it was probably one of the best meetings of my trip, especially as it was not planned.

And I was back on the road again. I walked the five kilometres to Durrus and passed in front of Jean's charity shop. It was quite early for lunch but I knew there'd be nothing else on the road that day. Too early for lunch, but not yet too late for a full Irish Breakfast (I didn't eat one since last week).

After my daily break, I started to walk the 5th and last peninsula, Mizen Head. In the beginning, it was a twisted road, surrounded by trees, so not great for visibility, but the traffic was not so heavy, while the weather was quite rainy, so at least I was protected by the trees. Then, the trees disappeared (as usual when you get closer to the peninsula's head) and I got a view of Sheep's Head peninsula and tried to find Jean's house. And suddenly, after a bend, I saw the sea, on the other side of Mizen Head peninsula, which means on the South Coast. It was quite an emotion. The South Coast at least!

But I left the Wild Atlantic Way and decided to go on the coastal road along the Northside of the peninsula. The weather was getting cooler, and I finally found a place for my tent, not very flat, but between hedges which means good shelters against the wind, to avoid getting too cold at night. I was really tired when I finished building my tent, maybe just because I went to bed late the night before. That's what happens when you're enjoying a good evening with company chatting!
