Day 135 - Monday, August 20th 2018: Glengarriff to Eagle Point (Ballylickey) 11 km / Total 2772 km, 18°C, cloudy
7 am. Fire alarm. Tough wake-up. I hardly got down from the top bunk bed, and as usual in the morning I moved like an old lady. When I finally reached the door, the manager told us there was nothing. Ok, let's go back to bed, too early to get up as I had few kilometres to walk that day.
As I left the village, I found some fabric in a tourist shop to replace my bandana which was definitely too used, with a big hole, scratched and the colours faded.
I walked long the national road for almost three hours. The traffic was not very important, and as the road was quite high on the hills, I could enjoy the view of Glengarriff Harbour with its blue pool, the Bay of Bantry with Whiddy Island and its oil terminal in the middle, and for once, both peninsulas of Beara and Sheeps Head.
At the campsite, I asked the manager if it was still busy and she told me it was the first Monday that was so quiet for a long time. And she explained to me that the children will go back to school next week. Only one week of summer holidays left!
After building my tent, I went to wash my clothes at the supermarket just in front of the campsite. That's the only reason I walked so few kilometres on that day, and why I chose to stop there. While the washing machine was working, I went to buy food at the supermarket. And it was really hard not to buy everything as I was very hungry. I ended up eating two sandwiches, one pain aux raisins, and a banana. Not to mention that I also bought couscous, cheesecake with cranberries, yoghurt and fruits for dinner. I'm so slim right now. But the problem is my stomach is definitely not used to get so much food anymore. I couldn't even finish my dinner!
