Day 134 - Sunday, August 19th 2018: Adrigole to Glengarriff 19 km / Total 2761 km, 21°C, sunny

Clear weather on that morning. As I left town, it felt like I was discovering the world around me. In fact, there was a big mountain just behind my hostel, Hungry Hill (it's almost a joke regarding how hungry I've been these past few days). So I decided to leave the Ring of Beara and walked the little road climbing the hills to get a view of the area. And I wasn't disappointed at all. The landscape was really beautiful. I'm definitely in love with the geological aspects of the mountains here. And Adrigole is nestled in a very nice bay. The walk was very peaceful, exactly like I love it: no one, no noise except the wind, just me and nature. And sheep and cows. But the next peninsula, Sheep's Head was still cloudy and I still couldn't see it.

I made a stop in Trafrask for lunch, where I had my first chips of the week. That was almost a feast! As often when I got into the pub for lunch it was shining, and when I got out, clouds were back. Most of the time, the weather is different before and after my day break, Irish forecast can change very quickly.

I decided to follow the little road, and the more I was climbing, the more I went into the clouds... Aside from the road was a little river and it was the only thing I could hear in that cloudy landscape.

I finally reached the Ring of Beara again, the road was big enough to give me safe space to walk along with it. As the road was getting down to Glengarriff Harbour, the clouds soon began to disappear, and I could enjoy the setting and the sun again. Sometimes, I get some silly songs in my head, and at that moment, as I was going down, I had "La fille du coupeur de joint" (Hubert-Félix Thiéfaine) in my head, just because some of the lyrics say "she was going down from the mountain" which was exactly what I was doing.

And that road was not only going down, it was also turning and turning. You think you have arrived, and there's another bend, and another bend, etc. It was never-ending.

Glengarriff is famous in the area because of its subtropical climate, due to the Gulf Stream, good enough to create a bamboo park. In a less poetical way, it's warm and wet. The town was quite lively and seemed stuck in time, fifty years ago.

As for me, I spent my evening planning the two next future weeks of my trip ...
