Day 130 - Wednesday, August 15th 2018: Ballycrovane to Allihies 21 km / Total 2690 km, 18°C, cloudy

The rain. When I'm inside my tent, it doesn't really matter. The problem is when you get out of the tent and pack it. I had to wait until 10:00 am before it stopped. And as I finally got out, I found myself in front of a dog, as surprised as me. Its mistress was behind. She told me that I found a great place to camp (I hope after five months I'm improving my wild camping skills) and that I had twenty minutes before the next shower. Ok, let's pack everything quickly. And she was right, as soon as I started to walk, it rained again.

On the little road to Eyeries, I met a German woman, walking the Beara Way in the opposite direction as me. I warned her about the bog area section I had to cross the day before, as it was cloudy because she could get lost. So she told me she was going to follow the road because a few days ago she already got lost in a fog in the mountains and she had to call the rescue. She asked me if I've been to other places in Ireland, so I explained to her my trip. And she suddenly became mute and looked at me as if I was completely crazy. And she left like I was insane and it could be contagious.

Eyeries is a pretty nice village, quite new and very colourful. I found a coffee shop to eat an Irish Breakfast and waited there until the rain stopped.

Finally, at the beginning of the afternoon, the sun came back, and I chose to walk the coast road. The first two hours were just a straight line, then it started to climb and turn. I met a farmer who asked me where I was going, and when I answered "Allihies" he told me I should better ask for a lift. Of course, but if I would take the easy solution, it wouldn't be a walking trip! This also means that if people walk instead of driving (and do some physical exercise in the same way) the Earth would probably be in a better state. So let's walk ...

The landscape around Cod's Head was absolutely beautiful, very wild, and geologically interesting, I really liked these mountains. Even if the road was getting up and down and turning all the time, like if it was never-ending.

In Allihies, a sport and horses race was just ending. And of course, the pub was full. In my hostel, I was the only one in my dorm room. Ireland like I used to know it before the summer holidays. During dinner, made of noodles, French people at the table next to me were eating French food, with cheese and wine. I felt so hungry with the sight and smell of such good food. I think they saw my desperate look because they gave me a slice of their cake. That was very kind and I was very thankful. I just hoped that I don't look too pitiful!
