Day 103 - Tuesday, July 17th 2018: Quilty (Seafield Pier) to Doonbeg 20 km / Total 2127 km, 17°C, cloudy

I wanted to walk along the beach that morning. Unfortunately, the tide was high, and I would have to walk on the galleys, which is not a good idea. So I chose the little road as much as possible, to avoid the busy narrow N67. At least the little road was very quiet, with no traffic at all. But the landscape around was quite boring. Flat, with fields (more yellow than green), some cows (it seems they're no more sheep in the area). For some moments, it almost reminded me of my birthplace in Picardie. And I had to deal with rain, then sun, then rain, then sun again. This means I put on my rain cover, wait for it to get dry, take it off. Repeat.

The last 4kms before Doonbeg, I had no choice, it was on the N67, straight ahead. The road that will never end.

I arrived in the village in the middle of the afternoon, got lunch and at 4 pm decided to go camping (enjoying myself with the idea of the laundry and a shower). Unfortunately, there was a sign that they had no vacancies even for a tiny tent. The manager had no piece of grass for me and told me during the summer holidays it's very busy. That's what I was afraid of. Getting from "not already open" to "fully booked". But I can hardly know where I'll be exactly in a week, so I can't book in advance my accommodation weeks before. His solution was to hitchhike to Kilrush (no, I'll go there at the end of the week but I'll go to Loop Head first), or to get a B&B (not in my budget in the area) or to camp wherever I can (too many houses in the area to hide).

I felt quite desperate, but I finally got an idea. In the village, there was a mobile home park behind the pub. So I went to the pub, explained that the camping was full, and asked if it was possible to put my tent somewhere on the grass in the mobile home park. They said yes, and they even didn't ask me to pay for it. Perfect solution!
